Gerald “Jerry” Keenan, 75, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2024, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Manchester. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church. Reverend Gabriel Anderson will be officiating. Inurnment will begin at 2 p.m., Evergreen Cemetery, Delhi. Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester is assisting the family.

Jerry was born September 18, 1948, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Mae (Miller) Keenan. He graduated from West Delaware High School and attended Loras College in Dubuque and UNI in Waterloo where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in business. On September 26, 1969, he married Dawn Carlson at St. Mary's Catholic Church; to this union, two sons, Chris and Kelly, were born. After graduation, Jerry started working for Kmart, he settled in Creston, Iowa, where he worked for Easter/Econo Foods. He later returned to Manchester as a business owner and was a bus driver for West Delaware, where he retired in 2022. Jerry was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Manchester where he taught CCD classes for over 20 years. He was a member of the NHRA and Pheasants Forever and was an avid donor to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. He enjoyed working outdoors, tending to his lawn, going hunting, coaching little league baseball and basketball, and was a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers. But most of all Jerry enjoyed spending time with his friends, family, and his beloved dog, Buddy, he will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Jerry is survived by his two sons, Chris Keenan of San Diego, California, Kelly Keenan of Manchester; grandkitty, Stitch; siblings, Aggie (Jim) Doyle, Mary Jo Munkel, Richard (Terese) Keenan and Ellen “Katie” Gish; brothers-in-law, Ronnie (Carol) Carlson, and Royce (Cathy) Carlson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mae Keenan; wife, Dawn Keenan; brother Donald Keenan; brother-in-law, Wayne Munkel, sister-in-law, Sonja Keenan; and his old faithful dog, Buddy.
