Gerald “Jerry” Haugen, 86, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away after a short stay at the hospital on Monday, December 16, 2024. A memorial service with military honors will take place at 10:30 a.m. on December 27, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, with a visitation one hour prior.

Jerry Haugen was born on September 14, 1938, in Westby, Wisconsin, to Tilferd “Tip” and Mildred (Buros) Haugen. He graduated with the Class of 1958 from Dubuque Senior High School and continued his education at the University of Iowa before transferring to the University of Dubuque. Jerry later entered the United States Army, where he served as an intelligence officer for the AIA. After his military service, he began a career as a process engineer for John Deere Dubuque Works while earning additional credits through Iowa State University.

On March 3, 1962, Jerry was united in marriage to Mary “Diane” Hendricks at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Dubuque. Together, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. Jerry enjoyed the outdoors, especially golfing, fishing, and walking the beaches of Florida. He took immense pride in his grandchildren and treasured time spent with family at their cabin in Guttenberg, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Haugen of Marion; children, Angela (Barry) Vosler of DeWitt, Iowa, and their children, David, Michael, and Jacob, Julie (Jim) Hillstrom of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and their children, Mollie, Katie, Joseph and Matthew, Steve (Angie) Haugen of Marion and their children, Madiline, Rebecca, Valerie, and Jessica, and Dave (Katrina) Haugen of Marion and their children, Andras, Anika, Adalyn and Anderson; brother, Ron (Barb) Haugen of Dubuque; and in-laws, Cheree (Kelly) Crandall and Randy (Kathy) Hendricks.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
