Gerald “Jerry” L. Dinius, 63, of 1308 26th Street N.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 24, 2009, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 27, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., by the Rev. Del Bear.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; sons, Paul (Stephanie) and Michael (Archana); grandchildren, Harrison, Heidi, Nicholas, Meghana and Malini; brothers, Donald and Raymond; and sister, Eileen Mann.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
Born April 29, 1945, in Mandan, North Dakota, Jerry was the son of Leo and Rose (Kary) Dinius. He served in the U.S. Navy from the age of 20 to 24. On September 2, 1965, in Santa Barbara, California, he was united in marriage to Nancy Eckberg. In California he worked for a propane company before moving back to Cedar Rapids, where he was vice president for National Propane for a year before buying the Deli-N-Brew. He retired from the Deli-N-Brew and started part time at Menards.
Jerry loved his grandchildren and his dog Dakota.
