Gerald W. “Gramps” Minor, Sr., 79, of Coggon, died, Friday, July 4, 2008, at home. Per Gerald’s wishes, he will be cremated and inurnment will take place in Virginia Beach. Arrangements provided by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include a daughter, Georgia (Dale) Blackford, whom he lived with and whom provided care for him; also a grandson, Sam, whom also helped with the care of his grandfather; children, Judy Morris, Sue, Heath, and Colleen Collins all of Cedar Rapids; 2 brothers and 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and one special great-great grandson, Noah.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley, and 1 brother.
Gerald was born October 29, 1928, the son of Charles Wesley and Clara (Stuckey) Minor, in Toddville, Iowa. He married Shirley Halstead and served in the United States Army. Gerald loved Nascar and his favorite driver, Mark Martin.
