Georgia J. Carpenter, 92, of Madison, Wisconsin, formerly of Central City, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 4, 2003, at Karmenta Nursing Home, Madison, following a sudden illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City, by the Rev. Nick Needham. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 14, 2003, at the funeral home. Burial: Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Hartwig of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ida Mae Flewelling of Garden City, Kansas, and Donna Kinyon of Iowa City, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph; three brothers, John Otho and Earl; and two sisters, Gladys McDonald and Betty Schmidt.

Georgia was born May 8, 1911, the daughter of George and Ida May Weaver McDonald, in Olin, Iowa. On June 11, 1930, she was united in marriage to Joseph Carpenter in Olin. He died December 10, 1979. Georgia worked for St. Luke?s Hospital in Cedar Rapids and was a volunteer with the Blue Bird Girls Organization.
