George Waite, 71, a resident of Living Center West, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, May 22, 2011, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: South English Cemetery, South English, Iowa, at a later date.
Survivors include his wife, Doris; brother, Bob Waite of Anamosa; nieces, nephews; and grand nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Nancy Waite; and sister, Nancy Mockenhaupt.
Born September 30, 1939, in Anamosa, Iowa, George was the son of George and Jean (Maring) Waite. He was united in marriage to Doris Sprague in Anamosa, Iowa, on November 11, 1972. George worked in retail in stores in the Cedar Rapids area.
