George Donald Vincent, 62, of Marion, formerly of Des Moines and North Aurora, IL, died Thursday, January 17, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Survivors include his wife, Christine; mother, Patricia Vincent of Bellevue; children, Tyler (Angela) Vincent of Waterloo, and Courtney Vincent Strable of Des Moines; step-children, Catherine Cantrill of Cedar Rapids, and Rebecca (Thomas) Bose of Marion; five grandchildren, Max, Jacob, Joanna, Andrew, and Nicholas; sister, Michelle Vincent Jess of Bellevue; nieces, Natalie, and Maya; nephew, Dimitri; brother-in-law, James Gassman of Darien, CT; and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Fayelen Gassman.

George was born November 4, 1950, in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines in 1968, and attended Grandview University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and was posted in Thailand during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, George graduated from Drake University. He married Cindy Lathrop in 1976 and together they had two children, and later divorced. George was the General Manager of KCBR (Fox 17) in Des Moines in the mid-1980’s where he hosted “The $100 Movie”. He moved to Chicago in 1988, and worked in accounting and as a financial analyst for several large corporations. In 2000, George married Christine (Cedarstrom) Cantrill in Des Moines. He and Christine moved back to Iowa, from Illinois, in 2009 to be with family.

A memorial fund has been established in George’s memory.
