George Gillman “Mo” McKinley, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Living Center West. Services: 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 17, 2012, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Harry Ebbeson III will officiate. Private Burial: Garrison Cemetery, Garrison, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; brother, Dr. Dean (Marvel) McKinley of Alto, New Mexico; stepdaughter, Shelley Barnes of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Teri and Mary Lynn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Virginia; and brother, William.
George was born November 15, 1917, the son of John G. C. “Carl” and Mary (Hardinger) McKinley, in Brandon, Iowa. He served in the United States Army. George worked as a superintendent of sheet metal at Rockwell Collins, retiring after 40 years of service.
George was a member of the El Kahir Shriners, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2272 and the Cedar Rapids Bowling Hall of Fame.
