George "Marv? Martin, 88, of 2204 Johnson Ave. NW, Evergreen Estates III, died Monday, December 29, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Memorial Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2003, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Hiawatha, where the family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until service time. The Rev. Neil Manternach will officiate. Private inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his daughters, Joyce Dunahugh of Hiawatha and Judy Shaeffer of Shellsburg; a brother, Donald Martin of Conrad; a half sister, Joyce Koch of Minong, Wisconsin; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife.
George was born December 9, 1915, the son of Clifford and Caroline (Mohleisen) Martin in Blue Hill, Nebraska. On September 20, 1940, he married Margaret A. Jacobs in Marion. She died July 6, 1992. George worked at James W. Bell Co. for forty-four years as a parts manager before retiring in 1980.
