George "Jerry? Loecke, 89, of Manchester, passed away on Thursday evening, February 10, 2005 at his home after a sudden illness.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 14 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Manchester with Rev. Msgr. Ralph Simington and Rev. Doug Loecke officiating. Friends may call from 2:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester, where there will be a Scripture Service at 4:00 p.m. by Deacon Jerry Jorgensen. Friends may also call after 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites.

Jerry was born the son of John and Elizabeth (Vaske) Loecke on October 22, 1915 in New Vienna. He attended St. Boniface School in New Vienna and worked on the family farm. Jerry served the United States Army in the European Theater during World War II. Upon discharge, he returned to farming with his father and brother, Leo. On June 3, 1947 Jerry was united in marriage to Florence A. Foxen at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville. Jerry made his home and farmed northeast of Manchester since 1948. Florence passed away on March 10, 1968. On November 19, 1971 Jerry was united in marriage to Viola Reiter at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville. She passed away on January 26, 1983. Jerry semi-retired in 1979, but continued to farm with his son in later years.

Jerry was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Manchester where he belonged to the Knights of Columbus #1962 Farming was his life, but be cherished spending time with friends. He enjoyed playing in card clubs and league bowling. Jerry especially loved his grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by a son, Jim (Daphne) Loecke of Manchester; step-children, James (Dawn) Reiter of New Castle, OK, Kathleen (Ed) Raab of Sussex, WI, Mary (Jerry) Jorgensen of Dubuque, Lois (Ken) Olberding of Dyersville; a step-daughter-in-law, Karen Reiter of Dyersville; eighteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and a brother, William Loecke of Dyersville; and a sister-in-law, Eldora Loecke of Tampa, FL.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, John & Elizabeth Loecke; his wives, Florence & Viola; a stepson, Robert Reiter; four brothers, Andrew, Bernard, Joseph and Leo Loecke; and five sisters, Catherine Koopmann, Ottilia Hellmann, Louise Kruse, Julia Loecke and Elizabeth Loecke.
