George J. Kidd, 70, of Central City, died Sunday, May 31, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home in Central City, by Father Droessler. The family will greet friends 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery in Central City.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; son, Doug (Doreen) Kidd; and daughter, Stacy (John) Michalec; three grandsons, Jason, Jeremy, and Aaron Kidd; one granddaughter, Sarah Lamourine; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and five sisters, Gladys Steidler, Helen Kress, Mary Kimmirle, Georgia Geltz, and Charlotte Hepker.
George was born August 26, 1938, to Charles and Velva (Carpenter) Kidd in Winthrop, Iowa. He was married to Mary Mahoney in Independence, on December 6, 1960. George was an avid gardener, loved fishing and hunting, and enjoyed a good, cold beer.
A memorial fund has been established in George’s memory.
