George F. Edaburn

George F. Edaburn, 78, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, June 23, 2011, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2011, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids and one hour prior to service at the church on Monday. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, rural Toddville.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Barbara; two sons, Brad (Lori) Edaburn of Marion and Shawn T. Edaburn of Running Springs, California; four grandchildren, Tiffany, Zach, Ashley and Emily Edaburn; one great-grandchild, Austin Edaburn; and sister-in-law, Betty Edaburn of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Charles Edaburn, Jr.
George was born January 30, 1933, the son of Charles and Gladys (Chrisman) Edaburn, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A 1952 Wilson High School graduate, he served with the United States Navy on the USS Hamul during the Korean Conflict as a machinist. On October 19, 1957, George was united in marriage to Barbara Hanson at the Cedar Christian Church in Cedar Rapids. After returning from the Navy, he began his career at Penick Ford, now known as Penford, retiring in1984, after 30 years of service. George then worked for MethWick Manor in maintenance and lawn care.
George was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Elks Club and VFW #788. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and oil painting. His greatest love was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House or Trinity Lutheran Church, in memory of George.
