Genevieve Christine Stevens, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, October 24, 2017. Visitation will be Friday, October 27, 2017, from 5 - 7 p.m. at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Memorial services will be Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment to follow at the Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City, Iowa.
Genevieve is survived by her son, Jay Stevens; sister, Kris Stevens; brother-in-law, Bob (Phyllis) Stevens; all of Cedar Rapids and many nieces and nephews and her beloved cat Sammy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings.
Genevieve was born October 27, 1932, to John Henry and Christine (Jensen) Auen. She attended Walker High School where she enjoyed playing basketball. Genevieve later worked for Rockwell Collins where she retired after over thirty years of service as a coil assembler. After working for Rockwell Collins, she enjoyed working in the kitchen at Johnson Elementary.
Genevieve enjoyed embroidery and reading novels. She started her own life’s novel by writing in her journal every day. Genevieve was a big fan of the University of Iowa sports and especially liked to watch Hawkeye basketball and football.
