Genesis Marie LaShelle Martin, 23 day old daughter of Joseph and Heavenly Martin, passed away on June 16, 2017, at her home in Marion. Visitation: 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Genesis was born on May 24, 2017, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her parents, Heavenly and Joseph Martin of Marion; siblings, Jaxson Martin, Jeremiah Martin, Nehemiah Uwadiae and Ryker McLaughlin; grandparents, Marie (Dave) Fraley, Clinton Martin, Venus Osborne and Andre Osborne; great-grandparents, Angela Horton, Donnie Franklin and Frances White; great-great-grandmothers, Mary Beets and Alverna Franklin; and aunts and uncles, Harmone Morrow, Julius Johnson, Marcus Martin, Wendell Tarbor, Tangela White, Melissa Martin, Tabia Tarbor, Andrea, Angelica, Betty, Irish and DeAndre.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Jimmy White and great-great grandfather, Rev.Paul Beets.
Now I’ve layed you down to sleep, always praying to the Lord your soul to keep. And if you should take your last breath before you wake, I know that your soul, our Lord has taken. We love you Nippy, Mama, Penny, Pretty Girl. Love, Mommie, Daddy, NaNa and Papa.
