Gene Enabnit, 90, of Marion, Iowa, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Friday, March 4, 2022, at Grace Baptist Church, Marion. Funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. at the church, Reverend Cecil Ballard will be officiating. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. at Troy Mills Cemetery in Troy Mills, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
Gene was born on December 20, 1931, in Coggon, Iowa, the son of Herman and Marie (Brechbuhl) Enabnit. On January 14, 1951, Gene was united in marriage to Lora Mae Cook in Coggon, Iowa. He retired from Wilson Foods at age 49. After retiring, Gene and Lora owned several women‘s clothing stores. In 1994 they joined Mannatech, a nutritional supplement company. This business provided them the opportunity to travel the world. Gene was also a skilled carpenter and used these skills to build several of the homes they lived in. He loved to play the accordion and yodel, this provided entertainment and enjoyment for his family and friends. Most of all, he loved spending time and traveling with his family. Gene will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gene is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Lora of Marion; daughter, Genese (David) Witwer of Fallbrook, California, their children, Charisse (Chris) Isa, grandchildren, Camden, Chancelar, Chaylee, and Cheldon Isa of Las Vegas, Nevada, Chandria Witwer of Fallbrook, California, grandson, Braxxon and Chelsea Witwer of Oceanside, California; daughter, Candy (Mike) Krall of Solon, Iowa, their children, Jeremy Krall of Solon, Jamie (Cory) Gebel, grandchildren, Rylan and Dalton of Morrison, Colorado, and Jodie (Vince) Colson, grandson, Caden of Superior, Colorado; daughter, Renee (Rex) Lancaster of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, their son, Dillon (Bronwyn) Lancaster, grandchildren, Malakai and Roman of Reinbeck, Iowa; daughter, Robyn (Wes) Askren of Kennesaw, Georgia, their children, Nathan (Laura) Askren, grandchildren, Sarah Frances and Michael of Knoxville, Tennessee, Grant (Lindsay) Askren, grandchildren, Jane, Philip, and Ezra of Muscatine, Iowa, Nicole (Nathan) Coffey of Lynchburg Virginia, grandchildren, Isabella and Caleb, Travis (Camila) Askren of Burlington, ON, Canada, grandchildren, Lily and Wesley. Madison (Blaine) Wycoff of Columbus, Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and nine siblings.
