Gayle Ann Olson (Willits)
April 12, 1952 — July 31, 2006
Gayle Ann Olson, 54, of 301 Foote St. SW, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, July 31, 2006, in her home, surrounded by her family, following a long battle with cancer. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 3, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Paul Fuessell of Grace Episcopal Church. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. (Wednesday) August 2, 2006, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, David; her children, David (Amy) Becicka of Fairfax, Courtney Olson, Stacy Olson and Robert Olson, all of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Elli Becicka, Lance Johnson, Ty Becicka and Addison Johnson; a sister, Christine (Steve) Nordstrom of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Robert (Stephanie) Willits of Cedar Rapids; her stepfather, Rod Newland of Cedar Rapids; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Gayle was born April 12, 1952, the daughter of Robert and Betty Lou (May) Willits, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On July 31, 1981, she married David Olson in Cedar Rapids. Gayle worked at Roosevelt Middle School as the cafeteria manager for 15 years. She was Treasurer of the Cedar Hills Booster Club and enjoyed dirt track racing. Gayle also was a big supporter of Jefferson High School Wrestling. Her favorite drivers were her son, Rob and NASCAR driver Dale Jarrett.
