Gary D. Wendling, 49, of Manchester, died on June 30, 2007, at his home following a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2007 at First Lutheran Church in Manchester by Rev. Harlan Kaden. Family will greet friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester and one hour before services Friday at the church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.
Gary was born July 1, 1957 in Manchester, the son of Richard L. and Marlene Y. (Fairweather) Wendling. He attended Dundee and West Delaware Elementary Schools and graduated from West Delaware High School in 1976. Gary farmed with his parents, worked as a hired hand and cleaned at First Lutheran Church.
Gary enjoyed fishing, music and volunteering at the church. He also enjoyed spending time with his nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Gary is survived by his mother, Marlene Wendling of Manchester; two sisters, Cindy (Dick) Pohlman of Manchester and Penny (Steve) Wallace of Marion; a brother, Jim (LeAnn) Wendling of Ashton, IA; a sister-in-law, Judy Wendling of Manchester; nieces and nephews, Nichole (Joe) Axline, Jason Wendling, Jenny Wendling, Stacy (Marty) Then, JoAnn Wendling (Kodi Whitehouse), Jessie Wendling, Adam Hamlett and Rachel Wallace; and great-nieces and nephews, Kaitylin, Miranda, Hannah & Jay Axline, Lanie & Landon Then and Jarrett & Nicholas Whitehouse.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Richard L. Wendling; a brother, Emil Wendling; and his maternal and fraternal grandparents.
