Gary Lee Sweet, 75, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died on Sunday, November 28, 2021. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral & Cremation Service, 520 Wilson Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52404.
Gary was born on October 26, 1946, in Kissimmee, Florida, the son of James & Lennie (Hiatt) Sweet. Gary graduated from Central City High school in Central City, Iowa. On July 25, 1976, Gary was united in marriage Roberta Heald at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He worked as a logger and in a milk processing company.
He enjoyed playing horseshoes, fishing, going dancing with his sweetheart, and going to church with his family.
Gary is survived by his wife of 45 years, Roberta Sweet of Cedar Rapids; children, Robert and Irma Sweet of Houston, Texas, Sheila Sweet of Oklahoma, and John Sweet of Idaho; grandchildren, AJ Sweet, Sasha and Shyann Sweet; a brother, James and Kim Sweet of Atkins, Iowa; and their son, Aron Sweet.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, James & Lennie Sweet.
