Gary D. Sieck, 49, of rural Center Point, died Tuesday, February 24, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center following heart complications. Services: 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 27, 2004, at Christ Community Church, Marion, by Pastor Mike Ellson of Center Point United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, February 26, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, Midway, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra; his sons, Ryan Christopher and Jonathan Gerald, both at home; his parents, Russell F. and ArloAnn B. (Gronewold) Sieck of Center Point; his brothers and sisters, Connie (Dick) Emery, Robert (Barb) Sieck, Arlyn (Evalina) Sieck, Terri Rhoads (fiancé Jeff Gilliland) all of Center Point, Richard (Mary) Sieck of Toddville, and Brenda (Ted) Lampe of Glendale, Arizona; his father-in-law, Jerry Oellrich of Toddville; his mother-in-law, Irene Oellrich of Marion, brother-in-law, Steven Oellrich, sisters-in-law, Susan Kimball, Sally Fabre`, Sherry Christensen, Sylvia Dawson and Tricia Spear; 8 nieces and 11 nephews; and his dog, Molly.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffery Sieck and his grandparents.
Gary was born October 10, 1954, the son of Russel F. and ArloAnn B. (Gronewold) Sieck, in Davenport, Iowa. He married Sandra Oellrich on September 23, 1978, in Cedar Rapids. Gary worked in the maintenance department at Cargill for 30 years and farmed. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Center Point, a Washington Township Trustee, Linn County 4H Fair Swine Committee member, and Promise Keepers. Gary was an avid Center Point-Urbana sports fan, enjoyed welding, building, cooking and everything about farming.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Center Point Youth Mission Fund.
