Gary "Red? Ross Morgan, 68, of 726 Ellis Blvd. NW, died Sunday, January 15, 2006, in St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, of complications of cancer. Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Dave Rogula of Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn, IA. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2006, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military honors.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; his children, Diana (John) Childers of Brooklyn, John (Kathy) Morgan, Sherry Morgan, and Jim (Bobbie Jo) Morgan, all of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren, Amanda (Justin Hard) and Stephanie Marble, Brooke, John Jr., Hunter, Amber, Jennifer, Calista, Haley and Jim Jr. Morgan; a great-granddaughter, Alyzabeth Mae Hard; and a sister, Dixie (Dennis) Black of Villisca, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Gary was born August 2, 1937, the son of Bud and Josephine (Smith) Morgan, in Mt. Ayre, Iowa. He served in the United States Army. On June 6, 1963, Gary was united in marriage to Bonnie Sebol in Knoxville, Iowa. For five years, he worked for E. Cohn & Sons and then worked 22 years at Wilson/Farmstead. Gary then began a 13-year career driving trucks for GSTC. He enjoyed reading war stories and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Sci-Fi movies.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Gary.
Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Hanford Post #5.
