Gary Ray Miell, 58, of 1021 24th St., Marion, died Wednesday, March 02, 2005, at home, following a long fight with cancer with his family by his side. Services: 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2005, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Rick Gail. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post No. 298 of Marion. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where a Masonic Service will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, Kim; his children, Bruce, Kenny (Amy), Dean (Amber), Michele, Max (Monica) and Alex (Stephanie); three sisters, Marge, Dixie and Pat; two brothers, Jack and Rick; and twelve grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Jessica on December 1, 2004.
Gary was born June 12, 1946, the son of Kenneth R. and Wilma E. (Barker) Miell in Fairfax. Gary served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. He married Kimberly in Cedar Rapids. Gary worked as an electronics technician for the U.S. Post Office in Cedar Rapids for the past fifteen years, prior to that he worked for Harnischfeger for eighteen years. Gary was a member of El Kahir Shrine and Masonic Lodge No. 6 of Marion.
