Gary A. Kruse, 58, of Center Point, died Tuesday, December 31, 2002, in St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2003. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, with military rites by Center Point American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; two daughters, Deanna (David) Asencio of Dallas, Texas, and Karla (Jeff) Sarchett of Urbana, Iowa; a son, Cory Kruse of Marion, Iowa; two grandchildren, Tyler and Aubrey Sarchett; his father, Rueben Kruse of Monona, Iowa; three sisters, Sheron (Robert) Trappe of Monona, Iowa, Deb (Don) Ferguson of Black Mountain, North Carolina, and Sue (Dan) Bland of LaPorte City, Iowa; and three brothers, Nile (Joyce) Kruse of Monona, Iowa, Danny (Mary) Kruse of Harpers Ferry, Iowa, and Randy (Sondra) Kruse of Guttenburg, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Gary was born August 26, 1944, the son of Rueben and Francis (Frye) Kruse, in Clayton County, where he attended school in Monona. He served with the United States Army in Germany as a pole lineman, until his discharge in 1966. On June 17, 1972, he was united in marriage to Mary Holub in Solon, Iowa. Gary worked for Bjornson Contruction and later for H & H Construction.

He was a member of the Duck?s Unlimited Blue Creek Chapter and the Wildlife Club. Gary was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, turtling, and mushroom hunting. He also was a Packer fan, enjoyed spending time at the cabin and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Gary was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
