Gary E. Honn, 60, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, March 23, 2015, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2015, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Murdoch Certified Celebrant Diane Thovson. Family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery at a later date, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn of Cedar Rapids; children, Rhonda (Darryl) Swift of High Springs, Florida and Gary (Shannon) Honn of Fairfax, Iowa; grandchildren, Courtney Jo, Courtney Lynn, Danielle, Taylor and Madison; great-grandchild, Brayden; his companion yorkie, Bella; siblings, Edward (Sue) Pulda, Linda (Bev) Chesmore, Judy Kaufman and Patty (Robin) Honn; and many special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Gary was born on February 14, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, son of Kenneth and Pauline (Bittle) Honn. He attended school in Cedar Rapids, then he served in the United States Marines from 1973-1977. On April 11, 1975, he married JoAnn Cihla in Rock Island, Illinois. He worked at Cryovac retiring after 33 years. Gary enjoyed going to Wildside Tattoo, J.C. Cycles, riding his Harley, boat house at Ellis Harbor, fishing, picnics, bonfires at nights, camping and classic cars. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
Family requests that you please dress casual for the visitation and service.
