Gary Evilsizer, 71, longtime resident of Cedar Rapids died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in a motorcycle accident in Benton county. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his loving wife, Jeannine of 49 years; uncle, Frank; two sister-in-laws, Georgene (David) Lopata of Walker and Dianne (Tim) Herring of Columbus Junction; his goddaughter, Michele; nieces, Melinda, Melissa and Marti; and nephews, Mike, George and Larry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Harriet; his in-laws, Maxine and George; and great niece Morgan Reves.
Gary was born on February 7, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, son of George and Harriet (Wadden) Evilsizer. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1960. On November 23, 1963, he was united in marriage to Jeannine Gegenheimer. Gary served in the United States Army from 1964-1965. He owned and operated Auto Radiator before he retired in 1996. Gary was a member at Mason Kingston Lodge #676 A.F. & A.M. He worked part-time for Linn County Elections, US Cellular and The Paramount. He always enjoyed time spent with Chris, who was his “Little brother,” and Sarah he always called his adopted daughter. Gary also enjoyed having coffee and eating out with his many friends, cooking, being on the computer and loved spending winters in Florida. After retirement he enjoyed cycling and recently enjoyed riding his Harley. His favorite quote was that he was “Perfect.”
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the Shriners Children Hospital or a charity of your choice.
