Gary Brinton, 73, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, May 4, 2009, in Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in St. Joseph, Missouri. There will be no local services. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte; sister, Joye Rhodes of St. Joseph, Missouri; three nieces; one nephew; one great niece; seven great nephews; three great-great nieces and three great-great nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
Born February 29, 1936, in St. Joseph, Missouri, Gary was the son of Otto and Roma (Jeffers) Brinton. On June 2, 1956, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Nelson in St. Joseph, Missouri. Gary served in the Missouri Air National Guard and taught math at Kirkwood Community College.
