Garnet R. Wilcox, 86, formerly of Marion, died Saturday, June 23, 2007, at Northbrook Care Center, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 28, 2007, at First Baptist Church in Marion by Rev. Randy Bobzien. Visitation will be held from 5 ?" 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include four daughters, Sherry (Harold) Jacobs, of Independence, Linda (Harry) Odeen, of Cedar Rapids, Paula J. Wilcox of Hiawatha, and Kathy (Jim) Thomas of Marion; eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Also surviving are her siblings, Violet Brislawn, Marvin (Esther) Knapp, Virginia Howe, Betty (Bob) Daubenmier, and Charlotte (Ted) Schutt.

Garnet was preceded in death by her husband, Paul D. Wilcox,; her parents; an infant daughter, Nancy Ann; and a brother, Howard Knapp.

Garnet was born on December 2, 1920, the daughter of Clarence and Gertrude (Glass) Knapp, in Linn County. On April 3, 1939, she married Paul D. Wilcox . She worked at the “Me Too” Store in Marion. She enjoyed sewing, making and selling crafts, flowers, and especially her family and grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established in Garnet's name.
