Gage Gabriel Jackson, 5, of Cedar Rapids, died at sunrise Sunday, October 1, 2006, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City. He fought a week-long, courageous battle against a ravaging auto-immune blood disorder. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 5, 2006, at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Steven Rosonke, with a luncheon to follow in the parish center. The family will greet friends from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with a parish vigil service at 5:00 p.m.

Gage was the beloved son of Dean Jackson and Stacey (Pawlak) Jackson, and beloved brother of Claire Jackson, age 7 and Liv Jackson, age 2. He also is survived by grandparents, Dennis and Janet Jackson of Montpelier, Ohio, and Ralph and Irene Pawlak of Troy, Michigan; his great-grandmother, Mary Kasa of Troy, Michigan; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Gage was born on February 25, 2001, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a kindergarten student at Jackson Elementary School in Cedar Rapids. Gage loved school, especially the bus ride. Some of his favorite activities included swimming, fishing, playing "Bugdom? and "I Spy? on the computer, playing checkers, watching cartoons (especially "SpongeBob SquarePants?), catching frogs, butterflies, and insects in his backyard, building complicated Lego structures, feeding his pet Red Devil fish ("Dragon Fire? ), and most of all, spending time with his family.

A special thank you to the entire amazing staff at the UIHC PICU, and all of the dedicated and caring hematologists, blood bank personnel, nephrologists, surgeons, his urologist, and other physicians and researchers who made Gage and his disorder their top priority. You gave us strength and we wish you could have known Gage in good health.
