Frieda V. Nelson

Frieda V. Nelson, 87, of 429 Crimson Dr. NE, died Wednesday, January 1, 2003, in her home, following a short illness. Graveside services: 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2003, at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. James Adix and Intern Pastor Jan Rippentrop. Arrangements with Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Nelson and wife JoAnn of Inverness, Florida; a daughter, Clarann Dvorak and husband Donald of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Brett Nelson, Matt Nelson and wife Lauren, Jeff Dvorak and wife Linda, Stacy Devereux and husband Steve and Kelly Horn and husband Chris; and seven great-grandchildren.
Frieda was born April 26, 1915, the daughter of Elmer and Clara (Myers) Brown, in Villa Grove, Illinois. On February 16, 1935, she was united in marriage to Ernest Nelson in Galena, Illinois. He died March 31, 1971. Frieda was employed at Collins Radio for 27 years, retired as an inspector in 1978.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice or the American Cancer Society in memory of Frieda.
