Fred C. Vargason, 67, of 954 21st Ave. SW, died Sunday, January 19, 2003, at St. Luke?s Hospital, following a long illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Nick Longworth. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.
Survivors include his daughters, Debra Lord of Cedar Rapids, Brenda Noll and husband Chris of Bonaparte, Iowa and Leann Vargason of Cedar Rapids; a son, Dan Vargason of Stanwood; a step-daughter, Deborah Manson of Marion; a sister, Betty Monroe and husband Larry of Cedar Rapids; his special friend, Earlene Frasher of Cedar Rapids; eleven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
Fred was born September 3, 1935, the son of Durward and Lora (George) Vargason in Wyoming, Iowa. He worked for Schoff Construction of Lisbon for over 30 years. Fred loved fishing and country western music.
A memorial fund has been established in Fred?s memory.
