Fred David Loynachan, 82, a resident of Linn Manor Care Center, Marion, died there Saturday, August 16, 2008. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church, Marion, by Rev. Howard Chapman. Inurnment Service: 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 22, 2008 at Columbia Cemetery, Columbia, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Cornelia; a son, Tim (Brita) Loynachan of Marion; a daughter, Lynn Loynachan of Woodbury, Minnesota; a sister, Neva Callison of West Covina, California; and 3 grandchildren, Colin, Nathan, and Kirsten Loynachan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and 3 brothers, Worth, Walter, and Alvin Loynachan.
Fred was born February 15, 1926, the son of Osa C. and Joanna (Prather) Loynachan, in Lucas County, Iowa. He graduated with a B.A. from Central College in Pella in 1954 and later graduated with a Masters Degree in elementary education from the
University of Iowa. Fred married Cornelia Nikkel on July 15, 1955 in Sully, Iowa. He was an elementary school teacher with the Cedar Rapids School District. Fred was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marion. He was also a member of Cedar Valley Rocks and Minerals Society and Good Samaritan Club R.V. Association.
