Franklin L. Chrisman, 89, of Kaiser, MO, formerly of Troy Mills, Iowa, died after a short illness in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Funeral services: 1:00 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by Rev. Del Bear, with military honors by American Legion Post #298 of Marion. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday. Graveside service: 9:00 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2014, at Lafayette Cemetery, rural Alburnett, Iowa.
Franklin was born July 1924 in Lafayette, Iowa. He graduated from Alburnett High School 1942. He farmed the family farm in Lafayette Iowa until entering the Navy during WWII from April 1944 -1946, and was in the Naval Reserves until 1950. He graduated from Iowa State College in 1952, in Farm Operations and went on to work for the Linn County Soil Conservation for several years. He then took up commercial beekeeping and purchased a small farm in Troy Mills, Iowa. In 1976, he moved to St. Elizabeth, Missouri, where he farmed until 2004. He then moved to Kaiser, Missouri, to retire and fish.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nancy Chrisman; and brothers and sisters, Clifford, Ruby, Elsie, Gladys, and Mildred.
