Franklin H. Bruce, 90, formerly of Central City, a resident of Crestview Acres Care Center in Marion, died Thursday, March 31, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center, following a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2005, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City by Rev. Del Bear. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Survivors include his wife, Leona of Marion; his children, Rosemary Bruce of Cedar Rapids, Frank Bruce Jr. of Cedar Rapids and Sherryl (David) Bauman of Bettendorf; ten step-children; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; forty-five step-grandchildren; sixty-five step-great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Bertha on September 15, 1979; a grandson, Brett Bauman; six brothers and sisters; three step-children; and two step-grandchildren.
Franklin was born June 8, 1914, the son of George Frederick and Anna (Clark) Bruce in Vinton, Iowa. On June 12, 1982, he married Leona Kelchen in Central City. Franklin worked for Iowa Steel as a machinist, retiring in 1979.
Franklin enjoyed reading, carpentry work and helping others.
