Frank W. Roman, 84, a resident of Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, September 26, 2005, at the care center, following complications of diabetes. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Brian Dellaert of St. Jude?s Catholic Church. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2005, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Burial: St. John?s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military honors.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Kofron of Cedar Rapids; many nieces and nephews, Karen Maerschalk, Sharon Thompson, Anne Skvor, all of Cedar Rapids, Theresa Rivera of Blairstown, Jennifer Phillips of Mechanicsville, Scott Roman, Rick Roman, Chris Roman, Dennis Roman, all of Cedar Rapids, Donna Chabot of Scotia, New York, Joyce Gerleman of Swisher and Carolyn Myers of Cedar Rapids; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Roman of Cedar Rapids; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Jerry and Anthony Roman.
Frank was born March 7, 1921, the son of Anton and Mary (Krejci) Roman in Czechoslovakia. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. For 31 years, Frank worked for Cherry Burrell, retiring in 1981.
Frank enjoyed all activities of life, including fishing and hunting with his brothers, the special dinners his sister fixed for him and puttering around the house remodeling and using his carpentry skills. Frank will be missed by all of his family and friends.
