Francis "Frank? D. Hassel, 75, of 280 Boice Rd. NW, died Sunday, April 13, 2003, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2003, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Diana Hoover. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; two daughters, Karen (Gary) Hanson and Patti (Terry) Waddell, all of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bob Hassel of Bettendorf, Iowa.
Frank was born July 8, 1927, the son of Willard and Lennie (Blackmore) Hassel in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He served in the United States Navy. On May 4, 1951, he was united in marriage to Jean Floyd in Cedar Rapids. Frank worked as a salesman and worked for Quaker Oats, retiring after 19 years of service. He enjoyed speed skating and will be truly missed by his family and friends.
