Frank Joseph Chermak, 73, of 2819 Southland Street SW, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, December 4, 2006, in his home, of lung cancer. Private graveside services were held by Pastor Darran Whiting. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife of 54+ years, Shirley; his children, Barbara (Andy) Johnson of Bettendorf, Iowa, Patti O?Keefe of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, John (Barbara) Chermak of McKinney, Texas, and Suzanne (Craig) McDonough of Walford, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Daniel and Sarah Johnson, Nicole O?Keefe, Amanda (Jared) Hazelett, Dallas McDonough, Dillan and Kaitlin Chermak.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Frank was born March 18, 1933, the son of Joseph and Ludva (Teply) Chermak, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On January 20, 1952, Frank was united in marriage to Shirley Brown in Cedar Rapids. He retired from Rockwell Collins after 35 years of service. Frank was an avid fan of the University of Iowa Women?s Sports and of his grandchildren?s events.
