Frank B. Bishop, 99, formerly of Earlville, died September 28, 2008 at the Good Neighbor Home, Manchester following a short illness.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at the Earlville United Parish by Rev. Jill Mack. Family will greet friends Tuesday, September 30, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Clifton Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Earlville with a Masonic Service. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Earlville.
Frank was born October 21, 1908 at Almoral, Iowa, the son of L. Burton and Sabra (Carpenter) Bishop. Frank was raised on the farm in Almoral, attended country school through eighth grade, graduating from Earlville High School in 1926. On January 28, 1938, he was united in marriage to Pearl E. Rice at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They were the parents of three boys, James Burton, Herbert Frank and David Robert. The couple farmed on the family farm for 28 years until moving to Earlville in 1966. Pearl died on March 19, 1995.
Frank was president of the Almoral School Board for a number of years. He was a member and Past-Master of the Masonic Lodge, a member and Past-Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, a past-member of the Farm Bureau Board of Directors and past-trustee of the Earlville Methodist Church.
Frank is survived by two sons, James (Gloria) Bishop of Mt. Pleasant and David (Denise) Bishop of Jesup; a daughter-in-law, Marie (Gerald) Blumhagen of Castalia; six grandchildren, Karla (Kelly) Mick, Clark (Amy) Bishop, Kevin (Pam) Bishop, Peggy (Greg) Zumbach, Scott (Rachel) Bishop, and Brian (Wendy) Bishop; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Burton and Sabra Bishop; his wife, Pearl Bishop; a son, Herbert Bishop; grandson, Brent James Bishop; a brother, Clarence Bishop; and two sisters, Dorothy Atwater-Eckley and Verla Hakanson.
