Francis E. "Fran? Luse, 77, of Kaiser, Missouri, formerly of Marion, died Friday, November 8, 2002, in his home. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, November 14, 2002, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by the Rev. Dr. Robert Kuntz. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, with military rites by VFW Post 788 of Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.Wednesday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his son, Richard (Anita) Luse of Orlando, Florida; two daughters, Jacquelyn (Jose) Diaz of Stover, Missouri, and Julie Saddoris of Marion; a sister, Phyllis (Keith) Anderson of Prescott, Arizona; two brothers, Rev. Velman (Margaret) Luse of Keosoqua and James (Pat) Luse of Marion; five grandchildren, Heather, Ricardo, Daniel, Elaina Jo and John; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, and his parents, Francis and Lulu.

Fran was born on April 8, 1925, in Cedar Rapids to Francis and Lulu Fleisher Luse. He served with the U.S. Naval Air Force during WWII. Fran was united in marriage to Donna Virginia McCalley on December 5, 1947, in Marion. She died September 11, 1997, in Osage Beach, Missouri. Fran worked at Collins Radio for 32 years, retiring as a mechanical designer in 1984.

Fran was very dedicated to and involved in the Boy Scouts of America. He will long be remembered as Ranger at C.S. Klaus Boy Scout Camp in Colesburg, where he served many faithful years. Fran was very proud of his Scouting achievements and awards, which included the Silver Beaver Award. Fran was a past member of Marion Christian Church and VFW Post 10139 of Orlando, Florida. He had also been ordained as a chaplain serving Racers for Christ. At the time of his death, Fran was employed at Miner Mike?s amusement center where he greeted families.

Fran loved spending time in the outdoors and with his family. His sense of humor was loved by all who knew him. Fran was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
