Francis Albert "Jim" Carnahan of Prescott, Arizona, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, August 24, 2007, at Hospice Family Care in Prescott, Arizona. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, Iowa, followed by inurnment at Springville Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Bernice Bennett Carnahan; one daughter, Sharon Kay Keeley and husband, David, of Prescott, Arizona; and son-in-law Lawrence Knorpp of Omaha, Nebraska. Also surviving are three granddaughters, Patricia Knorpp Ryan (Tom) of Omaha, Nebraska, Kirsten Keeley Fletcher (Mark) of Bartlett, Illinois, and Erin Keeley of Seattle, Washington; and two great grandsons, Tyler and Trevor Ryan of Omaha, Nebraska.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sally Rae Knorpp; and four sisters, Wilma Coppock, M. Harmie Carnahan, Erma Belle Loe and Leta Strah.
Jim was born July 21, 1911, the son of Ernest and Myrtle (Goldsberry) Carnahan and was united in marriage to Bernice Bennett on October 9, 1937, at First Presbyterian Church in Springville, Iowa.
Memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous, P.O. Box 418, Monticello, Iowa 52310-0418, or to a charity of the donor’s choice, in Jim’s memory.
