Francis L. Halsted, 83, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, August 9, 2023. The family will greet friends from 4 - 7 p.m. on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. Private burial: Buckingham Cemetery, Traer, Iowa.
Francis was born December 25, 1939, at home to Richard and Anna Halsted in Mitchell, Nebraska. He graduated from Giltner High School in Giltner, Nebraska. Francis then became a dairy delivery man and did some farming. He served five years in the United States Air Force, spending some of the tour in Morocco. Francis then joined the workforce of Ozark Airlines – TWA. On May 19, 1968, he married Cathy Wood at the Methodist church in Traer, Iowa. After retirement, Francis worked for Bill Skogman of Skogman Construction.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy; two brothers, Ron and Gordon; two sisters, Diann and Betty; and many nieces and nephews.
