Francis P. ”Bud” Weber, 87, of Independence, and formerly of Walker, died Sunday, November 1, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 5, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Walker, by Father David Ambrosy. The family will greet friends from 4 ?" 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Walker with a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Burial: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Walker, Iowa, with military rites. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Frances; a son, Jerome Weber of Sweet, Idaho, a daughter, Susan (Chuck) Briggman of Quasqueton, a daughter, Carol (Pete) Peters of Urbana, a daughter, Barbara (Pete) Divita of Elko, Nevada, daughter-in-law, Jealee Weber of Troy Mills, daughter, Patricia (Bob) Havlik of Walker, and a daughter, Mary (Bill) Maddox of Yorktown, Virginia; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Paul Francis Weber; daughter-in-law, Marsha Weber; 1 brother, and 7 sisters.
Bud was born December 13, 1921, the son of Frank Peter and Mary Armosa (Gregoire) Weber, in Alexander, North Dakota. He served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II. Bud married Frances Schmitz on August 7, 1943, at St. Peters Catholic Church in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He worked as a custodian for 30 years at Walker schools. Bud was a member of the American Legion in Walker, the Lion’s Club, Knights of Columbus, and the Scared Heart Catholic Church in Walker. He enjoyed bowling, dancing, fishing, hunting, and watching sports. Bud loved to garden and feed the birds. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Bud’s memory.
