Frances Lee Witt
October 20, 1933 — September 30, 2008
Frances L. Witt, 74, a resident of Crestview Acres, Marion, and formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at the care center following a long battle with cancer. Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2008, at Buffalo United Methodist Church, 4009 Blairs Ferry Rd., Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Survivors include her children, Jodi (Warren) Blakley of Cedar Rapids and Ronald E. Witt of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Susan (Terry) Sage of Dubuque; a brother-in-law, Fred Wagner of Wellman; 2 grandchildren, Christopher Mills and Danielle Witt; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Robert “Bob” Whetstine; and a sister, Judie Wagner.
Frances was born October 20, 1933, the daughter of Earl and Juanita (Rosenberger) Whetstine, in Richland, Iowa. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1951. She married John H. Witt, Jr. on February 14, 1962. He died January 12, 2000. Frances was a member of the Buffalo United Methodist Church. She was an avid doll collector; enjoyed playing board games, bingo, solving puzzles, sewing and taking care of her family.
A memorial fund has been established in Frances’ memory.
