Frances M. Thole, 85, of Manchester, died Monday, February 20, 2006 at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood following a short illness.
Funeral Mass will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2006 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Manchester by Rev. Msgr. Ralph Simington. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester with a rosary at 2:00 p.m. and Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m. and one hour before services Thursday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.
Frances was born July 13, 1920 in St. Lucas, the daughter of Henry C. & Mary M. (Langreck) Mihm. She attended school in St. Lucas, worked as a domestic and at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters in Oelwein. On May 24, 1952 Frances was united in marriage to Clarence A. Thole at St. Luke?s Catholic Church in St. Lucas. The couple farmed near Thorpe until retiring to Manchester in 1984. Clarence died November 20, 1998.
Frances was a long-time member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Manchester where she belonged to the St. Vincent Study Club, Altar & Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters and ACCW organizations. She was a volunteer lunch server at St. Mary?s School and assisted her elderly friends in their homes as well as driving them to their errands. Frances and Clarence were members of the National Farmer?s Organization. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Frances enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting, playing cards and quilting.
Frances is survived by three children, Marian (Patrick, Sr.) Freiburger of Delhi, John (Kathy) Thole and Ann (Paul) Sperfslage, both of Manchester; two brothers, Leo (Mary) Mihm and Clarence (Andy) Mihm, both of Portland, OR; three sisters, Loretta Zweibohmer of Ossian, Ann Roach of Des Moines and Agnes Bohr of Cresco; a sister-in-law, Mary Frances Geers of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Henry & Mary Mihm; her husband, Clarence Thole; a sister, Florence Manderfield; and a brother, Robert Mihm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Delaware County Hospice of Comfort in honor of Frances.
