Frances Elizabeth. Montgomery, 60, of 1025 20th Street S.E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 30, 2011, in Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at Gospel Tabernacle Church, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Joe Pledge. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at the church prior to the service. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Frances is survived by her husband, Joseph Montgomery, Sr.; daughters, Shawnda (Myron) Wade, Orlando, Florida and Felicia McKinney, Cedar Rapids; sons, Grady Daniels, Jr., Cedar Rapids and Joseph (Erica) Montgomery, Jr., Cedar Rapids; and grandchildren, Raije Doctor, Demarcus Daniels and Eleecia Ratcliff. Also surviving are her uncles, Francis Baker, Nathanial Baker; sisters, Pastor Betty Baker, Alfreda Fakorzi, Geneva Beets, and Mary Holliday; brothers, Alfred Johnson, Rev. Alfred Holliday; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Frances was preceded in death by her father, Alfred Holliday; mother, Genevieve Holliday; and four sisters, Jeanetta Hopkins, Ellen Williams, Darlene Holliday and Gladys Holliday.
Born November 8, 1950, at St. Francis Hospital in Kewanee, Illinois, Frances was the daughter of Alfred and Genevieve (Baker) Holliday. On December 3, 1983, Frances was united in marriage to Joseph Montgomery, Sr.
She was a member of Free Women in Christ and the Gospel Tabernacle Church
Frances loved cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
