Frances Louise Frett, 97, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha, Iowa. Family will greet friends from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church, conducted by Father David O’Connor. Burial will be held at a later date at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
Frances was born on July 25, 1924, in Billings, Missouri, one of 13 children to Peter and Louise (Schatz) Netzer. She grew up on the family farm. Frances was a 1943 graduate of Billings High School. On November 30, 1946, she was united in marriage to Clarence Matthew Frett. To this union, seven children were born. Frances worked for the Linn Mar School District Hot Lunch Program. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, helping with many funeral dinners.
Frances was always having fun, being goofy and creating laughter. She enjoyed cake decorating, baking, quilting, hosting penny carnivals for the neighbor children, playing Bingo, and gardening. Frances loved Halloween and would dress up and go trick-or-treating. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Frances is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 75 years, Clarence Frett; seven children, Dennis (Peggy) Frett, Ronald (Deidre) Frett, Donna Jones, Duane (Kimberly) Frett, Patrick Frett, Kevin (Valarie) Frett, and Renee Campbell; 11 grandchildren, Brent Sands, Jamie Sands, Katrina Haugen, Katherine Campbell, Emily Campbell, Kyle Olson, Jason Hoffman, Lacy Jones, Bryan Jones, Russell Frett, and Daniel Frett; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Louise Netzer; seven brothers, five sisters; and two sons-in-law, Douglas Campbell and William Jones.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Frances’ memory may be made to the family.
