Frances L. Blood (Klenk)

Frances L. Blood, 83, of 221 29th Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, July 23, 2008, in her sister’s home, following a brief illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Ron Lewis. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial: Oxford Cemetery, Oxford.
Survivors include her sister, Jean Hite of Cedar Rapids; a nephew, Bill Keegan and wife Carole of Williamsburg; and a grand-niece, Sherry Bayeur and husband, Brian and their son, Brendan of Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Garland; a sister, Doris Keegan; and two brothers-in-law, Bill Keegan, Sr and Gene Hite.
Frances was born July 17, 1925, the daughter of B. Frank and Matilda (Wagner) Klenk, in Johnson County, Iowa. For several years, Frances worked at the University of Iowa as a Food Service Manager and then she lovingly cared for her father during his later years. In 1964, Frances was united in married to Garland Blood. He died in 1998.
She was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Frances will be remembered by her family and friends for her quiet demeanor, her gentle and caring ways and her wonderful cookies and pies.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Frances.
