Forrest Allen Gorton, Jr.

Forrest Allen Gorton, Jr., 80, of 1550 Maplecrest Drive, died Monday, January 29, 2007, in St. Luke?s Hospital from complications of pneumonia. Memorial service: 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Cheryl Dickerson. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Darlene; two sons, Ralph Gorton and his wife Patricia of Naples, Florida and Brian Gorton of Ankeny; four grandchildren, Austin and Reece Hall of Sheridan, Wyoming and Dylan and Hannah Gorton of Naples, Florida; a brother, Gerry Gorton and his wife, Javotte of Bloomington, Minnesota; a sister, Patricia Ament of Cedar Rapids; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Forrest was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, John Ament.
Forrest was born March 13, 1926, in Roland, Iowa to Celia (Brouwer) and Forest Gorton. He married Darlene C. Hayek in Cedar Rapids on February 1, 1956. He retired as a technical writer from Rockwell International in 1986. Forrest enjoyed his family, fishing, tennis, and bridge.
He will be greatly missed.
