Nadine Swanson, 92, of Coggon, died Thursday, July 3 2008, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 7, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City by Rev. Clinton Jeffers. The family will greet friends from 2 - 6 p.m., Sunday, July 6, 2008 at the funeral home. Burial: Coggon Cemetery, Coggon, Iowa.

Survivors include her children, Marilyn (Jack) Burnell of Springville and Donald (Marvel) Swanson of Coggon; 1 sister, Shirley (Chuck) Hollan of Cedar Rapids; 8 grandchildren, Mike (Mary) Burnell, Jeff (Renee) Burnell, Dan (Sondra) Burnell, Tim (Jackie) Burnell, Willie Burnell, Donna (Butch) Reid, Mary (Jay) Bullock, and Steve Swanson; 17 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are many nephews and a niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 brother, Harold Hill, and 1 sister, Arlene Wagner.

Nadine was born July 27, 1915, the daughter of Ross and Mary (Hunter) Hill, in Coggon, Iowa. She graduated from Coggon High School in 1934 and married Carl E. Swanson in September of 1940 in Maquoketa. He died November 26, 1971. Nadine was employed by the Coggon Creamery for 30 years as a cream tester. She was a member of the Coggon Methodist Church. Nadine was an avid quilter and especially enjoyed making them for her family.

A memorial fund has been established in Nadine’s memory.
