Florian "John? Burbridge, 63, formerly of Greeley, Iowa, died Sunday morning, September 25, 2005 at the V.A. Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, after a long illness.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester. Friends may call 4-8 pm on Tuesday and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be at noon on Wednesday at St. Joseph?s Catholic Cemetery, Greeley.
John was born on July 4, 1942 in Manchester, the son of John M. and Clara L. (Steffen) Burbridge. He attended school in Oneida and graduated from Greeley High School in 1959. John served as a bookkeeper in the United States Army from February 1, 1961 until January 31, 1963. Upon his discharge, John moved to Milwaukee where he worked as a conductor for the railroad. After thirty years with the railroad, John retired at age 60.
John was a member of the United Transportation Union. He liked to work on fixing up and racing cars. John enjoyed boating and fishing on Lake Michigan.
John is survived by three brothers, James (Susan) Burbridge and Dan Burbridge, both of Delhi and Wayne (Debi) Burbridge of Greeley; a sister, Mary K. (Tim) Breitbach of Colesburg; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; and many special friends in Milwaukee.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John & Clara Burbridge.
