Florence Chlodene Williams, 86, of Springville, Iowa, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021, from Covid-19, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In agreement with her wishes, cremation has taken place and due to the pandemic, there will be no services held at this time. A celebration of Florence’s life will be planned for a later date.

Florence was born on May 9, 1934, in Mount Moriah, Missouri, the daughter of Claude and Freda (Coates) Luper. On August 9, 1952, she was united in marriage to Luther Clark Williams in Cedar Rapids. To this union, five children were born. As her children grew up, Florence became active in 4-H as a leader, often supporting local children with county fair projects. Later, she found joy in volunteering at the Springville Public Library and helping others through Meals-On-Wheels. Florence was a caring person who loved life with her husband, milking cows and raising their five children on their family farm, which she lived on until her passing. She enjoyed gardening and the canning of vegetables with her children each summer and fall. Florence’s gifts of sewing and needlework were seen in her many quilts which are cherished by her children and grandchildren. Florence enjoyed hosting family gatherings and passed on her talents and love for cooking to others. Her love for Luther and her family was evident in the way she always placed others first. Florence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 68 years, Luther Williams of Springville; five children, Linda (Dale) Barker of Lubeck, Maine, Phyllis (David) Jackson of Alma, Wisconsin, Donna (Richard) Solomon of Springville, Joyce (Mark) Roberts of Ryan, Iowa, and Jay (Lisa) Williams of Coggon, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Florence was preceded in death by her father, Claude Luper; and mother, Freda Wright.
