Florence Elna Haney, 89, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024. Visitation: 9:30 – 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service with a Graveside Service to immediately follow at 11 a.m. at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Florence was born on October 9, 1934, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Clarence and Gladys (Rasmussen) Boyer. She obtained her GED and associate's degree from Kirkwood Community College. On October 11, 1950, she was united in marriage to Vearle Keith Haney in Iowa City, Iowa. Florence enjoyed various crafts throughout her life, including crocheting, sewing, knitting, and embroidery. Additionally, she enjoyed watching the television series Criminal Minds, which became one of her favorite pastimes.
Left to cherish her memory include her children, Wayne Haney of Evans, Georgia, and Deborah Prendergast; grandchildren, Christina Ervin, Michael Tucker, Dru Snyder, Erin Carnahan, Patrick Prendergast, Elise Prendergast, Katherine Haney, Joshua Haney, and Leah Hall; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vearle; daughter, Verleen Anne Carlsen; brother, James Boyer; sister, Beverly Smith; half-brothers, Jerry Brumley, and John Brumley Jr.
